The Asia Feminist LBQ Conference is a space to recognise, celebrate, and strengthen the organising and activism of lesbian, bisexual, and queer persons based on self-determination. The conference centres LBQ individuals and communities across Asia who are engaged in movement building, organising, advocacy, and community work.
The priority is to centre LBQ women, including intersex, trans, cisgender, and all people who identify as women with marginalized sexualities. Women prioritises people who identify as women, but includes gender non-conforming and non-binary people. In this vein, we have decided to name this event the “Asia Feminist LBQ Conference”.
We expect to welcome approximately 300+ participants in total. We aim to offer up to 100 scholarships, subject to funding availability, with priority given to participants contributing to the programme through panel participation and approved session proposals.
Scholarships will prioritise LBQ activists and organisers from grassroots and community-based organisations based in Southeast, South, and East Asia whose participation will strengthen movement learning, collaboration, and regional solidarity.
No. Participants may attend the conference without submitting a session proposal. However, LBQ activists and organisations are encouraged to propose workshops, dialogues, and skill-sharing sessions based on their experiences and areas of work.
We welcome a range of session formats, including workshops, dialogues, strategy discussions, skill-sharing sessions, storytelling, and creative or participatory activities. Sessions that centre LBQ experiences, movement-building strategies, and cross-regional learning are particularly encouraged.
The Asia Feminist LBQ Network’s primary focus is on Southeast Asia, South Asia, and East Asia. We encourage session proposals that highlight these regions, though proposals are welcome from other areas as well.
The conference will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2027. The exact dates and venue will be announced once final arrangements are confirmed.
Scholarships may be offered for successful speakers and organisers of panels and sessions. The scholarship covers the full conference fee (04 days), round-trip airfare, shared hotel accommodation, per diem, and airport transportation.
We provide visa support letters, guidance on application procedures, and assistance with travel arrangements for scholarship recipients.
We aim to provide disability-inclusive spaces, interpretation support, and tiered registration fees. Additional accessibility needs will be accommodated within our organisational capacity.
The conference will include a well-being hub to support participants throughout the event. The organising team will also implement safety and care measures for participant support. We aim to create a respectful, accountable, and inclusive environment grounded in queer feminist values.
