About the Organisers

Meet the passionate queer feminist organisers, scholars, and activists bringing the Asia Feminist LBQ Conference 2027 to life.

The Asia Feminist LBQ Network (AFLN) is a regional organisation based in Bangkok, Thailand, working to create a sustainable and intersectional human rights movement for the social and political inclusion of LBQ persons across Asia.

AFLN emerged from years of conversations amongst grassroot LBQ activists on their invisibility and lack of support. As a result, a group of LBQ activists organised the first LBQ consultation in Asia at ILGA Asia’s 2017 pre-conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, followed by the first LBQ Consultation Meeting in October 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, which brought together 43 Asian LBQ activists from 10 countries.

LBQ persons across Asia face multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination, persecution, and socioeconomic marginalisation that often remain invisible within both LGBTQI and women’s movements. Queer feminist organising happens amid institutionalized patriarchy, rising authoritarianism, neoliberal policies, and climate displacement. AFLN creates a space where queer feminist activists learn, plan, and strategize around rights and gender equality.
